As of late I've developed a love-hate relationship with Anne Rice's "Vampire Chronicles"... on one hand I like reading vampire stories and Anne Rice has a very vivid writing style, on the other hand she has a vivid writing style, and I'm kind of sick of hearing about Lestat falling in love with every other person and being a general douche bag (pun there). And while Anne Rice's vampires seem quite similar to Stephenie Meyer's (Rice's vampires even become shiny as they age, although the younger ones do die from sunlight), there is a key difference: the Vampire Chronicles are well written. Twilight is a terribly written teen love story with a terrible version of vampires, not to mention a cop out of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. And Bram Stoker's Dracula was a bit lengthy, but perfectly written. Twilight... is a disgrace.
